This past weekend, I learned a juicy secret from my childhood...
First you need to know the background history,
If any of you know my mother, you know she is exceptional in the kitchen! Her bread has won ribbons, her cinnamon rolls make our mouths water... So, I grew up with homemade pies, breads, scones and cinnamon rolls on a regular basis, my favorite was always the left over raw dough from anything, :) but after a long day of work, my Dad's favorite were home made chocolate chip cookies. So, we always had them in the house and we always admired Mom for happily jumping to my Dad's request at the end of her long day to whip up a fresh daily batch.
Talk about LOVE! When we reminisce about the chocolate chip cookie days, we say things like "aw, mom you must really love dad", "wow mom, you're such a great wife", "someday, we want to be just like that with our husbands", that kind of stuff...
Well, this last weekend I learned the truth!!!
It turns out, those many years ago, my mom was actually making those cookies for herself!!
lol. She needed a sweet treat at the end of a long day with 8 kids. Who can blame her??
What I want to know is, how many of those cookies did she eat before she arranged them so beautifully on the platter and hand delivered them to my Dad? :)
Love you mom, I need that recipe!
