Welcome to the Family

Aiden rushed over to me, squealing, that there was a spider in the house!! Ahh!! This was quite an event, since we haven't see a spider for months!

Still, I didnt want to go capture it, so I avoided the whole situation as long as I could, but Aiden and Ashton came running back over to me, this time crying in fear... like, actually crying and jumping back in fright! :)

 Shoot, I thought, this must be some spider and Andrew Isn't home! 

It was up to me to be brave. I slowly approached the "spider" inside an empty box... but quickly realized it wasn't a spider at all... 

I was VERY relieved (and so were the boys) when I told them it was a cricket! They went form hiding behind me in panic to confident and curious...

Ashton quickly asked, "Can we keep it, Mom?"

...and since I'm a sucker, I said sure, as long as you feed it and name it.

(Geez, I'm an easy mom :)

They named it "Aiden" for a few seconds, but I suggested that it might be confusing with TWO Aidens in the house, and they quickly changed it's name to COLE.

Haha. COLE the Cricket.
