I'm a pink color.

Tonight, Ashton had all his crayons spread out on my bed with a cute little coloring book he got for Halloween. He started picking up his crayons and telling me which colors they were...
Blue: "Racecar color"
White: "Ghost color"
Green: "Monster color"
Brown: "Dirt color"
Pink: "Girl color"
Red: "Red color"

100 lies...

On talk radio last week, they announced the results of a new survey that showed parents lie to their kids over 100 times a year!! They focused on the top ten lies...

1. I always paid attention in school.
2. There’s no such thing as a favorite child. All of you are my favorites.
3. Sorry, the playground is closed today.
4. Cuddles the Hamster went to live on a nice farm. Yes, the same one where your goldfish went.

5. I have Santa Claus’s cell phone number on speed dial. Do you want me to tell him how you’re acting?
6. Whoops, the KidzBop CD is in Dad’s car and he already left for work.
7. “SpongeBob” isn’t on this week. And the DVD player is broken. And the cable is out.
8. Of course I wore to work today the macaroni necklace and bracelet you made me.
9. Daddy is allergic to cats/dogs/birds/reptiles.
10. I never took drugs.

So far, I'm proud to say, I haven't used any of these lies. :)

# 8 makes me sad, I would wear it with pride... but #2 is the one that interested me the most. Andrew and I are always trying to get our parents to tell us who their favorite child is...hehe. Sometimes we work them really good, but they always tell us they "don't have favorites", now we know its such a lie! :)
(p.s. it's totally obvious that I'm one of their favorites)

*Sparkles*

I am surrounded by boys and all things boy. Both Andrew and Ashton are 100% boy... trucks, legos, dirt, swords, balls, boy colors, meat, motorcycles... you get it. :)

It was time to introduce something girly.

While laying in bed with Ashton one morning, he started playing with my face (I guess this is normal) and I pointed out my ears and the earrings I was wearing. I called them my "sparkles". He loved them and every morning that week he would grab my head and look for them.
It wasn't long before he was pointing and saying "sparkle" and then wanting to wear all my jewelry.
Of course I let him...who am I to deny the child? :)
I let him wear all my big chunky stuff and sometimes something extra sparkly.
Andrew usually rolls his manly eyes at me...
But it's the closest thing to girly that I'm gonna get for a long time in this house and I think its pretty.

The "S" Word

I am a Primary teacher in my ward for the 4-5 year olds. There are 8 of them....(plus, I still have Ashton) so, yes, It can be ALOT of fun. :) The kids in my class are so cute and of course always say the funniest things!

A few Sundays ago we were sitting in sharing time and guessing what picture matched which priesthood ordianance.
The leader held up a picture with a man and woman in front of the temple (obviously being sealed)...the kids kept guessing, "temple", "wedding", "love", "getting married"...
finally the leader gave a clue....

"It's the S word"...

The little guy next to me looked up at me and said, "I'm not allowed to say the S word". I laughed and said, "yes, but I think that she just meant to say it starts with the letter S".
He cuped his mouth with his hand and whispered in my ear...
"it's S-E-X".
I was suprised and laughed as I looked at his mom, who's also a primary teacher in the room. She would DIE if she knew her 4 year old was saying "sex" at church!
So random... So innocent... So funny!

Strange Taste in Music...

Ashton loves music! He trys to sing along with me in the car or with the hymn at church. It's very cute, however, he does have some interesting favorites right now... he loves "Ladies Night" by Kool and the Gang, "Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan and the Gilmore Girls theme song. Pretty random, huh?
These three songs can get his attention no matter what he his doing! The Gilmore theme song has stopped his crying many-many times and Ladies Night either puts him to sleep or makes him wanna dance...
... now if only I could interest him in The Cure or some Weezer maybe... :)
